ER9 Cancels Tuesday Activities

All Easton, Redding and Region 9 school activities scheduled for tomorrow have been canceled, according to Peggy Sullivan, the districts' director of finance and operations.

"All Joel Barlow High School, Helen Keller Middle School, Samuel Staples Elementary School, John Read Middle School and Redding Elementary School related activities scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2011 are canceled," Sullivan wrote in an email to Patch. "This includes Samuel Staples open house, RES kindergarten orientation, convocation and teacher meetings."

"The decision will be  made tomorrow morning if we will be able to open school as planned on Wednesday," she continued. "The decision will be determined by the safety and accessibility of the roads in Easton and Redding and whether electrical power is restored to the school buildings."
