Saturday is Green Up Day in Weston, and the town’s residents are invited to join Kiwanis and many other local organizations in cleaning up the town by picking up trash from the sides of roads and public spaces.
Before taking to the streets to beautify our town, Kiwanis will meet at 8:30 a.m. at Norfield Parish Hall to pay tribute to the winner of this year’s Millie Best Award, Alice Barreca.
On Green Up Day, the Kiwanis Club of Weston gives the award to a Weston resident who best exemplifies the late Millie Best’s love and concern for the environment by making outstanding contributions to the field of environmentalism, conservation, and the beautification of our town. Past recipients have included Bruce Ando, Tom Failla, George Guidera, Robert Turner, Margaret Wirtenberg, Cory Attra, and Claudia Hahn. Breakfast will be served and members of the public are welcome to come and recognize Alice’s work for Weston.
