The United States of America declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776, but it took 36 more years — and a second war — to guarantee that independence. Now in 2012, its bicentennial anniversary, this important but often forgotten war will be discussed by guest lecturer, Betty Oderwald, President of the U.S. Daughters of 1812.
