The United States of America declared its independence from Great Britain in 1776, but it took 36 more years — and a second war — to guarantee that independence.  Now in 2012, its bicentennial anniversary, this important but often forgotten war is the topic of our first lecture of the year. The Society will host guest lecturer, Betty Oderwald, President of the U.S. Daughters of 1812, who will share her knowledge about the War of 1812 and the impact it had on the residents of Connecticut.

No reservations necessary. Info: (203) 581-0850 or email HSEastonCT@gmail.comWebsite: http://historicalsocietyofeastonct.org
