Finalist Chosen To Lead Redding and Easton Schools
The following is an announcement released by Leon Karvelis, Chair of the ER9 Superintendent Search Committee.

The ER9 Boards of Education announce the identification of a finalist in the search for Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Bernard Josefsberg, current superintendent for Leonia Public Schools in New Jersey, will move on to the final phase in the selection process. Dr. Josefsberg toured ER9 schools and met with town officials in Easton and Redding yesterday, Monday, May 2. Superintendent Search Steering Committee representatives conducted a site visit in Dr. Josefsberg’s district on Wednesday, April 27.
In his current position as Superintendent of Leonia (NJ) Public Schools, Dr. Josefsberg has led a successful effort to restore the reputation of the public schools as evidenced by test scores, school rankings, special education tuition revenues and related indices of organizational effectiveness. He successfully secured voter approval of a $20.3 million capital project referendum, as well six annual budgets.

Dr. Josefsberg has a long and distinguished record of working effectively with teachers, parents and community to build programs for young people. Considered to be a thoughtful pragmatist and insightful academic, he has a talent for harmonizing competing interests and acting forthrightly to meet student needs. He has had numerous accomplishments in the areas of grant writing, curricular planning, and staff development and has been a participant and published commentator in New Jersey state level policy discussions.
His experience in educational administration began in 1989 as a Secondary Vice Principal in Tenafly, NJ. From 1997 – 2001, Dr. Josefsberg served as principal of New Canaan High School in Connecticut. Subsequently, he served as Assistant Superintendent of Wayne Public Schools, a district of 8,600 students. During his tenure in Wayne, Dr. Josefsberg assumed a leadership role in securing voter approval of a $60 million capital project.
