Fraud And Identity Theft Top The Redding Police Blotter

REDDING, CT — The Redding Police Department investigated multiple fraud complaints, residential and retail, during the first full week of September.
On Labor Day, management at the Redding Brewery and Three Keys Restaurant, both on Main Street, told police that someone passed a counterfeit $100 bill to each of the establishments.
The next day, a resident at White Birch Road reported someone attempted to claim unemployment benefits by using her name.

On Wednesday, an Old Redding Road resident complained to police that someone had been "continually" attempting to convince her to withdraw $10,000 from her bank. The alleged scammer told the woman, perhaps ironically, the money was a payment to Lifelock, a company whose software is meant to thwart identity theft.
On Sept. 9, a Sunset Hill Road resident told police that her iPhone was hacked and its password changed. She told police that Apple support indicated her phone may have been cloned.

The Redding Police Department is continuing to investigate all these fraud allegations.
On the roads, a motorist traveling southbound on Route 58 suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized after running off the road into two trees on Sept. 4.
There were no human injuries when a motorist collided with a deer while driving along Old Redding Road On Sept. 9, but the deer was killed.
Nothing and nobody were hurt during a 2-vehicle collision along Route 58 on Sept. 10. No further details are available.
