Homeschoolers Win Big Again at the 2024 CT Science Olympiad

On Saturday, March 16th, the Fairfield County Homeschoolers, a group of homeschooled students from the Fairfield county area, once again competed in the 2024 CT Science Olympiad held in Coventry, CT. The Science Olympiad is a state and national competition where students compete in challenges requiring advanced understanding of topics in different areas of science and engineering. The small team of homeschoolers, who competed last year for the first time, went back to the competition, this time with an entire year to prepare. The students worked tirelessly to try and improve their group’s ranking among the ten schools and fourteen teams that participated in this years’ competition.

The team’s hard work resulted in them earning medals in twelve of the twenty-three events: Air Trajectory (1st), Can’t Judge a Powder (1st), Codebusters (3rd), Crime Busters (1st), Flight (1st), Forestry (1st), Microbe Mission (1st), Optics (1st), Roller Coaster (1st), Tower (1st), Wheeled Vehicle (1st), Wind Power (1st). In addition, the team won 2nd place overall. The team is looking forward to participating in next season's tournaments. They believe their dedication and enthusiasm for science will propel them to higher achievements.
