Homeschoolers Win First Place at the 2025 CT Science Olympiad

Third time's a charm for the Fairfield County Homeschoolers.

On Saturday, March 8th, the Fairfield County Homeschoolers, a group of homeschooled students from the Fairfield county area, once again competed in the 2025 CT State Science Olympiad held in Coventry, CT. The Science Olympiad is a state and national competition where students compete in challenges requiring advanced understanding of topics in different areas of science and engineering.

The team who started out with only eight students, went back to the state competition for the third year in a row with a full team of fifteen. They’d worked tirelessly to improve their group’s ranking among the seventeen teams that participated in this year's competition.

And their hard work paid off! They earned medals in nineteen of the twenty-three events. In addition, the team won 1st place overall, which qualifies them to go to the national competition being held at the University of Nebraska. Their dedication and enthusiasm for science, as well as their commitment, have made their dreams of traveling to nationals possible. They’ve come a long way in only three years.
