Memorial Garden Proposed In Easton To Honor 9/11 Family
Officials are exploring a plan that would also preserve land near the Centennial Watershed State Forest.
EASTON, CT — State and local officials are exploring a proposal to create a memorial garden in Easton honoring a family impacted by the Sept. 11 attacks, according to state officials.
The proposed pollinator garden would be located on a small parcel of land near Easton Congregational Church and would honor longtime church member Eunice Hanson, who died last year.
Hanson and her husband lost their son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

State Sen. Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) said discussions have focused on balancing the memorial with environmental protections, including preserving the surrounding watershed and removing invasive species from the site.
The property sits near the Centennial Watershed State Forest and is overseen by a group that includes state officials, The Nature Conservancy and Aquarion Water, according to officials.
