Men Charged with Distributing Oxycodone in Weston Overdose Case
The pair face federal charges in connection to a drug overdose of a 22-year-old Weston man, who is in a "persistent vegetative state,": Feds

Two Hamden men face federal charges in connection to distributing oxycodone that resulted in a recent overdose in Weston, authorities announced on Wednesday.
Tahir Farid, 21, and Ryan Looney, 19, were each charged by federal criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, oxycodone, according to a press release from U.S. States Attorney Deirdre M. Daly.
Farid was arrested on Feb. 22 and was released on a $250,000 bond. Looney was arrested on Feb. 29 and was released on a $100,000 bond.

According to the criminal complaints, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Tactical Diversion Squad and the Weston Police Department are investigating a drug-overdose of a 22-year-old male in Weston.
The victim was found unresponsive at a friend’s residence on Jan. 5 and remains unresponsive and, according to medical personnel, is in a “persistent vegetative state,” Daly said.

The victim allegedly purchased 30 40-milligram oxycodone pills from Farid for $900 on Jan. 3. He then consumed some of those pills, as well as other substances, which led to his overdose, according to Daly.
Looney allegedly supplied Farid with oxycodone pills prior to the victim’s overdose.
The charge of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, oxycodone carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.
