The deer which ran in front of a vehicle travelling along Giles Hill Road on July 17 was not so lucky. The animal was killed after striking the vehicle. The motorist was unharmed. Two days earlier on the same road, a westbound motorist lost control while rounding a curve, then struck a large rock off into the westbound shoulder. No injuries were reported.

Police have released no further details about the 46-year-old Redding motorcyclist who died from injuries sustained in a crash Saturday. A preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Cross Highway and lost control while rounding a curve, according to Redding Police Captain Tim Succi.
