Newsweek Ranks Weston High School Second Best in CT
Weston High School's national ranking declined this year, but it has maintained its state ranking.

Weston High School dropped in Newsweek’s annual ranking of the best high schools in the nation, moving from 163 in 2012 to 190 in 2013 ranking as the number of schools to make the list doubled from 1,000 to 2,000, but remained in second place among high schools in Connecticut.
Newsweek surveyed almost 2,500 schools nationwide, gathering data on graduation rates (weighted 25 percent), college matriculation rates (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent) and percent of students taking at least one college-level course (5 percent).

Weston received an overall score of 3.43, with a graduation rate of 100 percent, an average SAT score of 1794 (out of 2100) and 94 percent rate of graduates pursuing higher degrees.
The No. 1 school in the nation, Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky, obtained a score of 4.84, with 100 percent graduation and matriculation rates and an average SAT score of 2070.
Connecticut IB Academy in East Hartford ranked first among Connecticut schools to make the list, coming in at 112th overall, while Staples High School in Westport came in third place (196 overall).
