Think you're having a rough week? This local owl narrowly escaped life as a hood ornament

A Weston police officer rescued the hung-up hooter before it became a hood ornament. Now it's on the mend at a raptor rehabilitation center.

WESTON, CT — An owl who flew into a car grill is bruised and battered but not beaten after being rescued by a Weston police officer.

When a motorist realized they had picked up a stowaway on their journey home, they stopped at Weston Police Headquarters for some owl aid.

Happily, Sgt. Joe Miceli was on duty, and was able to extricate the hung-up hooter, once again free as a bird.

The owl is now on the mend in the care of Christine's Critters in Weston.

"He has some head trauma and bruising from his unfortunate encounter with a car, but we are cautiously optimistic we can get him back out there soon!" the raptor rehabilitators posted on social media. "It is nesting season for owls, so this handsome owl most likely has a mate waiting for him at the nest!"
