Police Chase Crosses Into Easton, Two Arrested: PD

EASTON, CT — Police arrested two men after a stolen vehicle attempted to evade police and led them on a chase through Bridgeport, Trumbull and Easton.

Trumbull Police were notified by Bridgeport Police around 2:50 a.m. May 2 that they were attempting to stock a Dodge Ram pickup truck heading into Trumbull. At one point the chase went through Easton.

A Trumbull officer began pursuing the vehicle as it crossed the town line near Madison Avenue and Buck Hill Road. The operated attempting to strike police cruisers, said Lt. Douglas Smith, Trumbull Police spokesman.

The operator instead crashed the truck. Trumbull officers assisted in a short foot pursuit off Russel Road in Bridgeport and nabbed the driver, Joshua Syarto, 35, of West Haven. An unidentified passenger ran from the vehicle and eluded police for the time being.

The passenger was then located around 7 a.m. walking on Madison Avenue in Trumbull. Matthew Prosnick, 32, of West Haven told an officer that he was waiting for a ride.

"As the officer was speaking with him, a nearby resident called police to report that a male who matched Prosnick’s description, had just stolen a credit card from their vehicle," Smith said. "Prosnick was found to be in possession of the stolen credit card and 30 packages of heroin."

Prosnick was charged by Trumbull Police with larceny, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
