Rare Tang Dynasty Sculptures Valued At 1.6 Millon Dollars Stolen

Two rare Louhan head sculptures dating back 900 to 1,000 years were being stored in Westport.

The Westport Police Department and the FBI are investigating the theft of two Louhan head sculptures which date back 900 to 1,000 years. The sculptures are reportedly worth $800,000 each, putting the total value of the theft at $1.6 million.

The statues, which are carved from sand stone, were from a private collection and were being stored at an undisclosed location in Westport.

According to a report from Westport Police, the sculptures originated from China and date back to the Tang Dynasty. They are extremely rare — only a few are known to exist in the world.
