Redding Woman Hits Pedestrian at Bethel's Tree Lighting
The accident occurred during Bethel's Winterfest and people were lining up in front of the Gift Cottage to get horse-drawn carriage rides.

A Redding woman struck a pedestrian who stepped out into the roadway during Bethel’s Winterfest and tree lighting activities.
Bethel Police were dispatched to the Gift Cottage on Greenwood Ave. on Friday, Nov. 27 after witnesses said that a car struck a pedestrian, according to a report by Lt. Michael Libertini.
When officers arrived, they found Larry Craybas, of Bethel, had been struck by a 2013 Ford Edge driven by Edith Sanford of Redding. Witnesses state that Craybas had stepped into the road in an attempt to slow down another vehicle that was driving too fast.
Police stated that Craybas, who is co-owner of the Gift Cottage, was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. There used to be a crosswalk nearby, however, it has not been replaced since painting over it last year. Click here for details.
Police said speed was not a factor in the collision. Sanford was not charged.
