Redding, Conn. – Ridge Crest, the sub-acute rehabilitation and skilled nursing neighborhood at Meadow Ridge, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Redding, Conn., has again been recognized with top honors by U.S. News & World Report for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. This is the sixth consecutive year that Ridge Crest has achieved this distinction, earning the highest overall designation of “high performing.” This places Ridge Crest among the highest-rated centers in Connecticut, with only 18 of the 197 in the state placing in the high performing category for both short and long-term care.

Ridge Crest offers comprehensive treatment plans to both Meadow Ridge residents and the greater community, including wound care, diabetes management, stroke recovery, joint replacement rehabilitation, hospice care, occupational and respiratory therapy, and additional services. Recent renovations include an expanded therapy gym and the introduction of virtual reality therapy. Ridge Crest patients also have access to exquisite amenities, including spacious private and semi-private rooms, guest suites for family, an indoor pool, salons and activities.

“On behalf of Ridge Crest and the greater Benchmark community, we are honored to have received this recognition for the sixth consecutive year,” said Christopher Barstein, Meadow Ridge Executive Director. “This distinction speaks to the dedication of our associates and to their undeniable passion for creating a high quality of life for our residents.”

U.S. News & World Report’s ratings analyze resident care, safety and outcomes. These ratings account for the consistency of registered nurse staffing, the use of antipsychotic drugs, and success in preventing emergency room and hospital visits. Short-term rehabilitation assesses the prevention of falls and serious infections, and residents’ ability to return home, while long-term care further evaluates a center’s ownership and weekend staffing levels. The ratings are determined using data submitted by the community to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Ridge Crest has a five-star rating, the highest possible, from CMS.

According to the U.S News rankings, nurse staffing for Ridge Crest’s short-term rehab is 50% higher than the state and national averages at 5 hours 47 minutes per resident, per day. Adequate staffing is associated with better safety outcomes. In addition, 98% of long-term care residents maintain their ability to perform everyday activities, like eating and moving without help during their stay, indicating the exceptional quality of care provided by Ridge Crest’s care team.
