School Briefs: April 15
Many residents from Weston, Redding and Easton shine at boarding schools and colleges nationwide.

Marist College recently released its deans’ list for the fall semester, and three area residents were among those named: Sam Benjamin, of Weston, a member of the Class of 2011 and a communications major; Allison Beres, of Redding, a member of the Class of 2012 and an economics major; and Stephen Beres, of Redding, a member of the Class of 2014 and a biomedical science major.
Two local students received faculty honors at Trinity College for the fall semester: Alisen Urquhart, of Redding, and Ryan Emberling, of Weston.
Alexandra Kendall, a junior at Loomis Chaffee School who is from Weston, recently received high honors for the winter term.

Three local students, all seniors, were named to Fairfield University’s deans’ list for the fall semester: Elayne Cassara, a Weston resident; Shannon Flynn, a Redding resident; and Jason Shah, a Redding resident.
Redding resident Amanda Macchio was recently intitiated into the Phi Eta Sigma national honor society for college freshmen at Georgia Southern University.

Westonite Erin Clayon, a junior at Pace University, was awarded two scholarships — the Switzer Foundation Scholarship and the Vivien B. Allen Scholarship. She is majoring in nursing.
Kiera Wood, of Redding, a rising senior at Greens Farms Academy was recently nominated to represent Connecticut as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2011 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University. The conference will take place in July.
Two local students were recently named to the deans’ list for the fall semester at Ithaca College: Hannah Dubner, daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Dubner of Easton, and Danielle Sessler, daughter of Keith and Jacqueline Sessler of Redding.
Four local students were recently named to the deans’ list for the winter term at Choate Rosemary Hall: Westonites Jacqueline Bernstein, Carolyn Bernstein and Dennis Levene, and Rachel Mellon, a Redding resident.
Claire Egan of Weston, a freshman at Westminster School in Simsbury, earned honors for the winter 2011 academic term.
Anje Grund, of Easton, was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society for undergraduate and graduate programs during a March 30 ceremony at Quinnipiac University.
Stephania Kushnir, of Easton, was among the 26 graduate nursing students inducted in the Tau Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing, during an April 7 ceremony at Quinnipiac University.
