School Briefs: August 19

Fairfield University recently held its commencement ceremonies, and eight local students were among those who received degrees: Shannon V. Flynn, of Redding, received a bachelor degree in English and creative writing; William K. Fow, of Redding, received a bachelor degree in marketing; Jason A. Shah, of Redding, received a master’s degree in accounting; Janet B. Mendell, of Easton, received a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy;  Elayne Cassara, of Weston, received a bachelor degree in visual and performance theatre; Janet Huetteman, of Weston, received a master’s degree in marketing;  Lisa M. Lack, of Weston, received a certificate of advance study in shool psychology; and Gianna F. Bavido, of Weston, received a master’s degree in secondary education for Spanish.

John Galvin, of Weston, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduated in May.

Abigail Wolff, of Easton, recently graduated from Taylor University, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.

University of the Sciences recently released its dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester, and Kathryn Derrig, of Easton, was among those named. Derrig is a doctor of pharmacy student.

Three local students were among those named to Skidmore College’s dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester: Elizabeth Roche, a member of the Class of 2011, who is the daughter of Edward and Deborah Roche of Easton; Michelle Molokotos, a member of the Class of 2013, who is the daughter of Thanasis and Diane Molokotos of Easton; and Jack Fischer, a member of the Class of 2014, who is the son of Barry and Marti Fischer of Weston.

Marist College recently released its dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester, and two local students were among those named: Allison Beres, of Redding, who is a member of the Class of 2012 and is majoring in economics and Ashley Fumai, of Weston, who is a member of the Class of 2012 and is majoring in psychology and special education.
