School Briefs: July 22

Many residents from Weston, Redding and Easton shine nationwide.

Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio, recently released its dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester, and three Westonites were among those named: Allison Elizabeth Crennan, Jordan Madison Masarek and Ana Elizabeth Zawacki. In order to be named, students must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Stonehill College recently released its dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester, and Kelly L. Romans, a member of the Class of 2011 from Easton, and Jane F. Dudley, a member of the Class of 2012 from Weston, were among those named. In order to make the list, student must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.5.

St. Michael’s College recently awarded its Book Award to four local students: Samuel Torchio, of Redding, a student at Joel Barlow High School; Elizabeth O’Brien, of Easton, a student at Joel Barlow High School; and Weston High School students Bradley DeMarco and Margaret Maretz. The award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in volunteer service and academic achievement.

Bryant University recently released its dean’s list, and three local students were among those named: Brittany Auer, a senior marketing major from Redding;  Katherine Starkey, a junior international major from Redding; and Robert Maiorano, a senior entrepreneurship major from Easton.

Zachary Mettel, of Weston, was named to the honor roll at Cheshire Academy for the second semester of the 2010-2011 school year. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.67.

Meredith Lomuscio, a Westonite who is a member of the Class of 2013 at Loyola University in Baltimore, was named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester. In order to be named, students must have a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Ithaca College recently held its commencement ceremonies, and two local students were among those awarded degrees: Kristen Essex, daughter of Kenneth and Barbara Essex of Redding, received a degree in communications and Ronjit Basak-Smith, son of David and Madhumita Basak-Smith, received a degree in humanities and science.
