School Briefs: July 8

Many residents from Weston, Redding and Easton shine at schools nationwide.

Redding resident Bradley Harder, a member of the Class of 2012 at Washington and Lee University, was named to the honor roll for the winter term. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.75.

Olivia Vaccaro, a Westonite who is a member of the Class of 2012 at The Ethel Walker School, received The Day of Service Award.

The University of New Haven recently held its commencement ceremonies, and David Ho-Yen, of Redding, and Erika Echavarria, of Weston, both received bachelor of science degrees in criminal justice.

Two Westonites were named to the University of Vermont’s dean’s list for the Spring 2011 semester: William C. Baker, a sophomore majoring in electrical engineering, and Joseph R. Friedman, a freshman majoring in anthropology.

Ashley Tsalapatanis of Easton earned a bachelor of arts degree from Western New England College. She graduated magna cum laude.

Union College recently held its commencement, and four local students were among those awarded diplomas. Gordon Butler, of Easton, received a degree in political science. Marica Dacey, of Easton, received a degree in classics. Nicole Berliner, of Weston, received a degree in psychology and religious studies. Matthew Druks, of Weston, received a degree in managerial economics.

Three Westonites recently received degrees from Villanova University: Sarah Fagan, Gerald Sargent and Kristina Shepard.

Easton resident Kelly Lee Romans recently graduated from Stonehill College with a bachelor of science in business administration degree.
