School Briefs: Sept. 2

Many residents from Weston, Redding and Easton shine nationwide.

Three local students were among those named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Union College: Emily Zangrillo, a Redding resident who is a member of the Class of 2014, is majoring in economics and is a 2010 graduate of Joel Barlow High School; Gordon Butler, an Eastonite who is a member of the Class of 2011, majored in political science and is a 2007 graduate of Hamden Hall Country Day School; and Matthew Goldfarb, a Westonite who is a member of the Class of 2012, is majoring in psychology and is a 2008 graduate of Weston High School.

The Savannah College of Art and Design recently announced its dean's list for the spring semester, and two students were among named: Rachel Ordway, of Easton, who is seeking a bachelor of fine arts degree in sequential art and Nicholas Fjellberg Swerdlowe, of Weston, who is seeking a bachelor of fine arts degree in industrial design. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Fairfield University recently released its dean's list for the spring semester, and four local students were among those named:

  • Elayne Cassara, a Westonite

Hartwick College sophomore Shannon Foley, of Redding, daughter of Donna and John Foley, has been named to the spring term dean's list. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Brynn Rachel Gelerman of Weston was recently named to the dean's list for the Spring 2011 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Gelerman is a graduate of Weston High School and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5.
