Trump Taps Larry Kudlow For Economic Advisor: Report

Larry Kudlow has accepted an offer as the top economic advisor to President Donald Trump. The two disagree on tariffs.

REDDING, CT — Redding resident Larry Kudlow is expected to become President Donald Trump's next top economic advisor.

Kudlow reportedly accepted Trump's job offer Tuesday night, according to CNBC. Kudlow confirmed in an interview with the Wall Street journal that he has accepted the offer.

Kudlow expressed support for Trump's tax plan passed last year, but criticized the move to impose steel and aluminum tariffs in an op-ed piece.

"But even if tariffs save every one of the 140,000 or so steel jobs in America, it puts at risk 5 million manufacturing and related jobs in industries that use steel," Kudlow wrote in the joint op-ed.

Trump's former advisor Gary Cohn resigned shortly after the tariffs were announced.

Kudlow has hosted shows on CNBC, is an author and a frequent contributor to publications including the Wall Street journal. His most recent role at CNBC was as a senior contributor.

He nearly ran against U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal in 2016, but ultimately decided against it. He worked in President Ronald Reagan's administration and is a supporter of supply-side economics, which advocates for low taxes and deregulation.
