Update on Judd Road Oil Spill Closure, Clean-Up: Report
Crews have been working to clean up a 1,700-gallon oil spill on Judd Road near the Easton border.
MONROE, CT — Crews have been working tirelessly to clean up a sizable oil spill on Judd Road in Monroe near the Easton border after an oil delivery truck struck a tree and caused a rupture in the trucks tank Thursday.
According to a report from the Monroe Courier, the road is expected to remain closed until the middle of next week. However, the report noted that weather could be a factor and that snow and sleet would slow the contractor's clean-up efforts.
On Jan. 31, the oil delivery truck left the roadway and struck a tree, which caused a rupture in the truck's 2,500-gallon tank. The Monroe Courier reports that 1,700 gallons of oil were spilled. Easton Police have been stationed at North Street and Sport Hill Road, and Monroe Police are stationed at the Hattertown end of Judd Road.
