WESTON, CT — The Weston Fire Department is mourning the death of a former member who was killed during last week's storm.

The body of firefighter Robert MacIsaac was found at about 5:25 p.m. on Thursday, in the Aspetuck River in the area of Bayberry Lane and Easton Road in Westport.

MacIsaac was a member of the department from 1985 to 2000, according to a statement released by the WFD this weekend.

"Bob was a great friend to many of our members and always lended a hand wherever needed," the WFD spokesperson said.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, Weston police reported to Fairfield police that MacIsaac's vehicle had been found submerged in the river, directly behind Aspetuck Falls in Fairfield, but no one was inside. According to Fairfield Police Sgt. Michael Stahl, the vehicle "was believed to have been at this location for several days."
