Weston HS On New List of Top Public Schools in CT

WESTON, CT -- A new website that provides national rankings of high schools based on matriculation to top colleges has placed Ridgefield High School among the top ten public schools in Connecticut.

PolarisList, founded by Harvard College and Norwalk High School alumnus Sai To Yeung, is his attempt "to demystify the education planning process for families across the country, and across all socioeconomic levels." Unlike other rankings, PolarisList uses a single objective measure: how many students the schools send to Harvard, Princeton and MIT each year. The website is also the only one to compare public and private schools directly.

Why Harvard? Why not Yale? Yeung says it is a function of the colleges' high degree of selectivity -- they only accept the best -- combined with the depth of their financial aid packages that he says ensures the best can actually attend these schools without significant burden.

The totals consist of cumulative data from the 2015-2017 college graduating years, according to the PolarisList site.
