Weston Man Identified In Fatal Westport Crash: PD
According to police, the vehicle struck a utility pole and was fully engulfed in flames.

WESTPORT, CT — Police have identified the person killed in a fiery crash early Sunday after striking a utility pole in Westport. Police said the deceased has been identified as Cullen Walsh, 39, of Weston.
According to a press release, Westport Police and Firefighters responded to a report of a large fire in the area of 57 Weston Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday and located a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle had struck a utility pole and two trees, downing electrical wires, police said.

The Westport Police Department Accident Investigation Team and Detective Bureau responded to investigate the incident. Weston Road, which had been closed for the investigation and utility repair work, was reopened to traffic at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday.
"Preliminary information indicates speed and a failure to negotiate the roadway were factors in the accident," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release. "The incident remains under investigation."

According to an online obituary published by the Harding Funeral Home, Walsh was a partner at Grant Thornton, LLP and was previously a Practice Fellow and an Assistant Director at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
He is described in the obituary as a "humble and genuinely all-around nice guy and beautiful person," as well as a "devoted husband, dog lover, an amazing cook and an old soul who loved learning how to dance to big band and swing music, collecting old books and hosting dinner parties with friends and family."
His family will receive friends at the Harding Funeral Home on Friday, April 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. All other services will be private.
