Weston, Redding, Easton Drivers: U Drive, U Text, U Pay
Police are taking part in the distracted driving crackdown which starts Monday and continues through Aug. 13.

Local law enforcement are taking part in an initiative to crack down on distracted driving, according to the News Times.
The State Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office announced the continuation of the “U DRIVE. U TEXT. U PAY” initiative. The program starts Monday and continues through Aug. 13.
State Police are working with the following police departments on the initiative:

- Bethel
- Danbury
- Brookfield
- Monroe
- New Milford
- Norwalk
- Ridgefield
- Westport
- Orange
- Bridgeport
- Stamford
- Derby
- Stratford
- Trumbull
- Greenwich
- Milford
If caught texting and driving, motorists can expect to pay $150 for the first offense, $300 for the second violation and $500 for each subsequent violation.
The last crackdown in April resulted in approximately 16,000 tickets issued to distracted drivers.
