Weston Woman Is Busted on Shoplifting, Drug Possession Charges in Greenwich

A 20-year-old Weston woman is facing larceny and drug possession charges following a reported shoplifting incident at the LF boutique in Greenwich.

It shortly after 5:35 p.m. Aug. 5 when Greenwich Police were called to the LF shop at 319 Greenwich Ave. on a report of a woman shoplifting clothing, according to a police report.

As police arrived, the woman ran out of the store and climbed into a nearby SUV. Police stopped the vehicle and the woman inside admitted to having left the store according to the police report. The store manager met with police and identified the woman as having left the store without paying for several clothing items.

Police said that a search of the woman’s vehicle revealed several clothing items with LF tags attached.

A search of the woman’s purse “revealed multiple wax folds that contained a brown powdery substance consistent with that of heroin. Additionally, a small amount of marijuana and cocaine were located along with razor blade, Zig Zag rolling papers and a small pair of scissors,” according to the police report.

Officers arrested Carolina V. Rivera, of 35 Eleven OClock Rd., Weston, on charges of fourth-degree larceny, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. Fourth-degree larceny involves the theft of merchandise valued between $500 and $1,000, according to Connecticut General Statutes.

Rivera was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
