2 Pedestrians Remain Hospitalized After Wednesday Crash In Westport

The two were walking on the sidewalk on Imperial Avenue when they were struck by a vehicle, according to Westport police.

WESTPORT, CT — A 29-year-old Fairfield woman, and a 33-year-old Easton man, remain hospitalized on Friday, after the two were struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Westport, according to police.

The woman's condition remains critical, while the man is showing signs of improvement and has been upgraded to stable condition, Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods wrote in a Friday morning statement. Their identities have not been released.

Woods said that the operator of the vehicle, who is cooperating with the investigation, suffered injuries and has been released from the hospital. That person's identity also has not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but in a preliminary report, the vehicle was traveling north on Imperial Avenue when it veered off the road and struck the pedestrians, who were walking on the sidewalk.
