3 Westport Fire Department Recruits Graduate from State Fire Academy

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Firefighter Recruits Elizabeth Ferguson, Joshua Gamble and Christopher Balich graduated from the Connecticut Fire Academy on Dec. 9, local fire officials announced.

The three were part of the academy's Recruit Class 58, completing an intense 14-week, live-in instructional experience that "focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for a new firefighter to preform entry-level tasks under direct supervision."

The graduation ceremony was held at Central Connecticut State University, and Westport Fire Chief Andrew Kingsbury was the guest speaker.
