WESTPORT, CT — Four unlocked vehicles were burglarized in Westport Saturday afternoon, as police said the department is preparing to deploy more patrols as a preventative move in an effort to thwart such crimes.
"Traditionally, this type of crime was committed during the overnight hours," said Westport Police Lt. Dave Wolf in a statement. "However, Westport and other communities are now seeing this activity at varying times of the day."
What was stolen from the vehicles, and the areas of town where the thefts occurred, were not disclosed, but authorities said the department's detective bureau is investigating.
