4th Suspect Busted In Westport Shoplifting Case Where Car Was Crashed

The incident occurred in December 2021, and three of the suspects were arrested at the scene of the attempted getaway.

WESTPORT, CT — A fourth suspect has been arrested on a warrant in connection with a December 2021 shoplifting case in Westport where the suspects crashed a vehicle during their getaway, according to police.

Three of the suspects were arrested following the crash on Interstate 95 near Exit 17, but Rodelle Murray, who Westport police identified as the fourth suspect, got away at the time.

The four were accused of shoplifting from the Ulta Beauty store on the Post Road East.

"A search of the vehicle while on scene recovered the items stolen from Ulta, a driver’s license for Rodelle Murray, and the suspect vehicle was registered to Mr. Murray," Westport police said in a statement. "Further investigation involving search warrants for cell phone records also connected Mr. Murray to the alleged crimes."

Murray, 33, was extradited to Westport from a prison in upstate New York on Monday, and was charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, and interfering with an officer.

The Bronx, New York, resident is being held in lieu of bail of $40,000. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court next week.
