1. 3 Westport Schools Among Best High Schools In CT: New Rankings (patch.com) — Westport families can celebrate that three local high schools have been named among the best in Connecticut in new Niche rankings. Staples High School placed second statewide for public schools, while Pierrepont School and Greens Farms Academy both ranked in the top 20 private high schools, reflecting strong academic options close to home.
2. 20 Westport restaurants cited for serious violations during July health inspections (ctpost.com) — Health inspectors cited 20 Westport restaurants and food businesses for 59 serious violations in July, ranging from improper food storage temperatures to dishwashing and sanitizer problems. While many managers say issues were corrected, residents who frequent spots along Post Road, Main Street, Saugatuck Avenue, and Railroad Place may want to pay closer attention to recent inspection results.
3. Vineyard Vines property owner lists Westport site for sale (westfaironline.com) — A key downtown Westport storefront at 90 Main Street, long home to the Vineyard Vines shop, has been put up for sale without an asking price. Recently appraised at just over $5 million, the fully leased space sits among other high-end retailers, signaling a potentially significant shift in the makeup and ownership of Westport's Main Street shopping district.
4. Westport's reading state testing scores remain high (inklingsnews.com) — If you have students in Westport schools, new state reading test data show the district still scoring well above Connecticut averages, even with slight dips in some grades. Sixth-grade ELA saw the biggest drop, but teachers say they're closely examining causes and partnering with families to keep strengthening students' skills.
5. Scarice: finalist for national superintendent award (westportjournal.com) — Westport families may want to know that Schools Superintendent Thomas Scarice is a finalist for a national Superintendent of the Year award, largely for his leadership on AI and academic integrity in Westport Public Schools. His work on an AI code of ethics, K–12 literacy framework, and long‑term planning is drawing national attention while directly shaping how local students learn every day.
