WESTPORT, CT — Kneads Bakery Cafe, which established its first location in Westport in 2020, has expanded to Fairfield and plans to open a third location in Greenwich, and is doing so with the help of Saugatuck Commercial Real Estate.

The commercial real estate firm, which helped founders Daniel and Brittany Moreno secure the site for their original Westport bakery, has continued working with the business as its exclusive real estate partner.

Kneads opened its Fairfield location this week at 1916 Post Road. The bakery, which mills its own heirloom flour in-house, is introducing a production model that divides baking operations between its Westport and Fairfield locations.

Under the new arrangement, the Fairfield location will handle bread production for both cafes, while the original Westport location will focus exclusively on pastry production.

SCRE also has secured a third location for Kneads at 32 Railroad Ave. in Greenwich Crossing, a transit-oriented redevelopment project near the Greenwich train station.

The planned Greenwich cafe will serve residents, visitors and commuters traveling through the area. An opening date was not announced.

Penny Wickey, principal of SCRE, said the company's relationship with Kneads began when the Morenos were preparing to open their first bakery.

"There's something uniquely rewarding about helping an entrepreneur secure their very first location and then watching that vision grow into a thriving multi-unit business," Wickey said.

"We have worked with Daniel and Brittany since the very beginning. To facilitate their expansion into Fairfield and the highly anticipated Greenwich Crossing project is a testament to their exceptional craftsmanship and strategic vision. It is an important success story for our Emerging Brands Development platform," Wickey added.
