WESTPORT, CT — A Westport parent was issued a citation for illegal purchasing of alcohol by a minor, after a Halloween party swelled to more than 500 juveniles and took police about two hours to clear, according to authorities.
The party at a Heron Lake Lane home in Westport on Saturday required not only all Westport police officers on duty at the time, but also officers from Norwalk, Wilton, and Weston to help break up.
Westport police were alerted about the party at about 8:30 p.m., and additional attendees were still arriving when the initial call was made, according to authorities.
"During the investigation, various types of alcoholic beverages and containers were observed by the responding officers," Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso wrote in a statement to Patch. "The crowd was mostly, if not all, comprised of juveniles."
The parent, Emily Blundell, 49, was issued the citation, and she told police that the party was supposed to only have 30 to 40 juveniles before it grew out of hand, The Hour reported.
Blundell is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 20.
