Boaters on the Hook for $1.3 Million Dredging of Westport Marina: Report

The project calls for the removal of nearly 21,000 cubic yards of sand from Ned Dimes Marina at Compo Beach.

WESTPORT, CT — A planned $1.265 million dredging project at Ned Dimes Marina in Westport will be footed by boaters who use the facility, following a decision this week by the Board of Finance.

The boaters will pay for the dredging over 15 years, reports Westport Now. The project calls for nearly 21,000 cubic yards of sand to be removed from the marina, which is located at Compo Beach.

Town officials had initially considered paying for 20 percent of the project, with boaters picking up the other 80 percent. But that idea was nixed due to concerns over the costs of several other capital projects slated for the next five years.
