Compo Marina Launch Ramp To Reopen Next Week As Construction Nears Completion
Some work remains, and not all marina services will be available upon the launch ramp's opening.
WESTPORT, CT — Westport's Parks & Recreation Department said most construction work at Ned Dimes Marina, also known as Compo Marina, has been completed, and the construction barge was removed from the site June 5.
The department said some finishing work remains, including final pier improvements and work by plumbers and electricians. The marina's launch ramp is scheduled to reopen Monday, June 15.
Electrical service to the marina remains delayed because of modifications required by Eversource, according to the department. The Department of Public Works approved a change order June 4 to install a generator bypass to the marina electrical panel. The work is expected to be completed by June 26.

Generator service to the AB Dock also remains delayed pending approval of a change order by the Department of Public Works. The department said a generator will remain at the marina through the 2026 boating season, with full electrical service expected to be restored at the start of the 2027 season.
Once the generator bypass is operational, boat owners will be able to charge vessels through dock electrical service on a scheduled basis. The charging schedule will be based on overall electrical demand and will be shared with marina users when finalized.

The department asked boaters not to use air conditioning or refrigeration systems while operating on generator power because the added demand could overload the generator.
Fueling services remain unavailable at the marina. The town also plans to evaluate whether pump-out services can be offered based on electrical demand and generator capacity.
South Beach restrooms will remain closed pending further review of generator capabilities. Portable toilets will remain available until the restrooms can reopen.
Events at the Ned Dimes Marina Clubhouse, Camp Compo and activities using lights at the Compo basketball courts will continue to operate using a generator bypass and portable generator. Event organizers are asked to check in at the Compo Beach entrance gate upon arrival for assistance with generator startup and building connections.
As part of the final plumbing phase of the project, the marina water system will be shut down from noon Monday through noon on Wednesday while contractors complete required system sanitization.
During the shutdown, boaters are advised not to use the marina water system. The department said using the system during sanitization could damage boat upholstery and engine systems. After the work is completed, the system will be flushed and returned to normal service.
The South Beach water fountain and outdoor shower also will be closed during the temporary water shutdown.
