Elias 'Lee' Angelus Papageorge, 65, Fairfield Resident and Owner of Oscar's Deli in Westport

He was the owner of Oscar's Delicatessen in Westport for over 42 years.

The following obituary for Fairfield resident Lee Papageorge, 65, the owner of Oscar's Deli on Main Street in Westport, is from the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home:

Elias "Lee" Angelus Papageorge, age 65, of Fairfield, the loving husband for over forty-five years to Mary-Jo Nazzaro Papageorge, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Born in Bridgeport to the late Angelus "Angie" Papageorge and Jennie "Bess" Papageorge, Lee was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1969. He was the owner of Oscar's Delicatessen in Westport for over forty-two years and successfully operated the business, always with family by his side, until this past Sunday.

Lee was always a strong supporter of the Star program, Project Return and Homes for Hope, the Red Cross and many others.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two loving daughters, Melissa Papageorge of Fairfield and Alexandra "Ali" Papageorge of Trumbull; his mother, Jennie "Bess" Papageorge of Fairfield; his devoted siblings, brother, Lucas "Luke" Papageorge and his wife, Brenda of Easton; sisters, Frances "Fanny" P. Kochiss and her husband, Bob of Fairfield, Sandra "Sandy" P. Mongillo and her husband, Joe of Niantic; his cherished grandchildren, Danae, Taylor, Frankie, Charlie, Olive and Plum; his two brothers-in-law and their wives, Frank and Debbie Nazarro of Oxford and Mark and Lorie Nazzaro of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

All funeral services are private. A public memorial will take place at a later date.
