Westport Drum Lessons by Jimmy Lane

Jimmy Lane is a drummer, teacher and the founder of Westport Drum Lessons. He began taking drum lessons at age 12 and has been actively playing, teaching (and learning!) ever since. In 1995, He began teaching at Merritt Music of New Canaan CT.  Demand grew rapidly, and soon private drum lessons were made available in Westport, and has expanded throughout southern Connecticut into Southport, Fairfield, Weston, Wilton, Norwalk, Redding, and New Canaan. Was  Jim manages to maintain a roster of between 30-40 steady drum students per week with unmatched longevity and loyalty.  "I must be the luckiest person ever." Jim explains: "To be able to share music ideas with these wonderful, interested and aspiring drummers. - Where can you find better company than that? It's a real privilege for me”.  Jim learned the basics from college professor Ray Alexander, who studied with Henry Adler, who was known as the premier drum teacher of the New York scene for the last 55 years. Mr. Adler was well known in the drumming industry as the teacher who was responsible for assisting musically and professionally - the greatest drummer of ALL times: the world famous - Buddy Rich. - The two collaborated on writing the classic and timeless drum method book "Buddy Rich's Snare Drum Rudiments", which is an integral part of Jim's drumming curriculum. There is no substitute for the right fundamental foundation. The students who work with Jim know that they have found the "main vein" of learning the drums. And it is exciting to know that they can trace their roots back to the great Mr. Buddy Rich himself... Jim is pupil-oriented instructor, able to teach beginners, novices, and experts by truly connecting with student at their level, and provide the right focus, insight, and attention that makes drum lessons have much deeper value and meaning. He keeps pupils engaged, inspired and constantly learning: the guiding principle. Jim’s students say it best by showing continued loyalty year after year. Some enjoying their drum studies as long as 11 years. We confidently say that those who choose Jim are getting it all: Real world playing experience carefully customized to be enjoyable based on the pupil’s needs. Charis Chamber Voices celebrates America’s 250th birthday with Songs of Democracy: Friday April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan, CT, and Saturday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m. at Reformed Church of the Tarrytowns, 42 N Broadway, Tarrytown, NY. Charis’s Artistic Director, Jeremy Wiggins, conducts, accompanied by Terence J. Flanagan at the piano.
The all-American program includes Howard Hanson’s Song of Democracy, his setting of a Walt Whitman poem that celebrates the country’s youth, vigor, and destiny. Fern Hill, by John Corigliano, on a poem by Dylan Thomas, is a nostalgic evocation of childhood with just a hint of what was to come. Works by Aaron Copland and Randall Thompson and familiar American favorites round out the program. 
Charis’s famous wine and cheese reception will follow each concert. We look forward to sharing this birthday bash with you!

The Remembrance Parade
The Cannon Ridge Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is pleased to invite you to the Remembrance Parade featuring Gold's Dragoons, The Governor's Horse Guards and Mt. Kisco Scottish Pipe and Drum Corps. &nbsp;This America 250 commemoration honors the Patriots and veterans who supported the cause of American independence, and remembers the sacrifices made at the Battle of Ridgefield. The Parade is free and open to all. &nbsp;We encourage everyone in our community to join as we pause to reflect on our shared American history during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.&nbsp;
The parade will commence at 12 noon on April 25th from Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church on Main Street ending at the Battle of Ridgefield memorial plaque in Ballard Park with a wreath laying ceremony honoring:
