We're busy preparing for the 2nd Annual Strong Kids Triathlon, and we hope your children are getting ready to swim, ride and run, too!
Held on Sunday, Sept. 18, at Staples High School, this fun, festive event helps raise awareness – and funds – for the Westport Weston Family Y’s annual Strong Kids Campaign, which allows the Family Y to fulfill its charitable mission.
Registration and check-in begin at 8 am. All participants receive a T-shirt and a medal as well as the satisfaction of being a true, "triple-threat" young athlete.
“It’s a fun, friendly event for the whole family to cheer the athletes on – and it’s all for a good cause,” says Jacquie Tumminia, the Family Y’s Senior Director of Aquatics and Competitive Swimming and coordinator of both the Strong Kids Triathlon and Point-to-Point Compo Beach swim, community-wide sporting events that benefit our annual fundraising campaign.
Joining the team effort this year is TD Bank as lead sponsor. “We are proud to support the Westport Weston Family Y and participate in this great event,” says Michael Hensinger, Head of Middle Market Commercial Banking for TD Bank. “Being a part of the Strong Kids Triathlon embodies our corporate citizen philosophy of strengthening the communities we serve.”
“We’re delighted to be able to work with community partners that share our mission to develop our youth, promote healthy living and foster a sense of social responsibility,” says Rob Reeves, CEO of the Family Y. “TD Bank is a great example of that, as are our other sponsors, including Advanced Radiology Consultants, 1-800 Plumber of Stamford, Willows Pediatrics, Bobby Q’s and Cycle Dynamics.”
