Reiki is a hands-on healing technique developed by a Japanese Buddhist monk. Reiki energy balances the body, mind and spirit. During a session, Baum places her hands gently on different parts of the body, helping energy to flow to areas that are blocked. The positions focus on the seven major chakras or energy centers of the body. The clearer the energy flow, the more the client's health and well being can improve.
An expert in holistic energy healing techniques, Tesa Baum is a certified Usui and Karuna Reiki Master/Healer and has been a practitioner since 2005. She is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) and has studied energy work, healing and meditation with Lumin Essence Awakening your Light Body (www.orindaben.com).

"As each client's needs are different, each healing session will be unique to each client," says Tesa. "The positive energy flows into your body, creating a sense of complete relaxation while helping to ease emotional, physical and spiritual tensions. As these improvements develop there is a natural process of renewal as the body more easily rids itself of toxins, ultimately opening up more of the body to life energy."
Tesa Baum's Reiki sessions take place at the Family Y and are available by appointment; $75 for Y members, $85 for non-members. To make an appointment, please call Shelley Moll, Health and Wellness Director, at 203-226-8981, ext. 198.
