Sesame Street Executive Address Sunrise Rotary

At the Westport Sunrise Rotary breakfast meeting on Friday, January 14, the featured guest speaker will be Andrew Ames, Vice President, Global Production at Sesame Workshop in New York.   The meeting starts at 7:30 a.m. and is held at Bobby Q’s Restaurant, 42 Main Street, Westport.  Guests are welcomed. There is a $12 fee for the meeting which includes a breakfast buffet.

Ames oversees international co-productions and domestic outreach productions, including US primetime television specials. He is responsible for creative content and budgeting, financing and scheduling for all projects in these areas. Ames has over 25 years experience in creating, overseeing, producing and directing media content for multiple platforms, live and on tape, in studio and on locations around the world.

Prior to joining Sesame Workshop, he enjoyed a varied career as a media executive, producer, director and writer for a wide array of programs and networks, including The History Channel, Reading Rainbow, Good Morning America, Candid Camera, America's Most Wanted, Martha Stewart (CBS primetime holiday special), Mickey Mouse Club and several adventure series that took him from Borneo jungles in search of wild orangutans to paragliding in the Venezuelan Andes.

Ames has won one national Emmy Award (Reading Rainbow) and has received five national Emmy nominations. He holds a B.A. in English Literature from Columbia College in New York City and an M.A. in Radio/TV/Film from the University of Michigan.
