Fairfield Physical Therapists to Speak at Parkinson's Support Group in Bridgeport

Support group coincides with bi-weekly fitness classes

On Thursday, March 31 The Watermark at 3030 Park will host their Parkinson’s Support Group, a monthly meeting for people living with or caring for someone with Parkinson’s disease. March’s meeting will feature guest speakers Jason Kody and Heather Oberhand, Physical Therapists from Rehabilitation Associates in Fairfield.

The support group is free of charge and open to the public and will take place at 2:00 at the continuing care retirement community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.

Mr. Kody and Ms. Oberhand will discuss the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) LOUD® and LSVT BIG® programs. LSVT LOUD is a voice treatment program designed to help people with Parkinson’s improve vocal volume, articulation, respiration, posture, pitch, facial expressions and swallowing. LSVT BIG is a newer movement-based program designed to help people with Parkinson’s improve size and speed of movement, balance, gait, posture and overall quality of life.
