Fire Damages Detached Garage Of Westport Home: Fire Officials
The fire was reported Monday evening on Evergreen Avenue.
WESTPORT, CT — Firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged the detached garage of a home on Evergreen Avenue in Westport on Monday, and the blaze is under investigation, according to Westport fire officials.
No injuries were reported in the 7 p.m. fire, in which firefighters could flames coming from the structure as they arrived.
"The fire was contained to the garage and did not extend to the house," said Assistant Chief Matthew Cohen in a statement. "There were several small explosions in the garage that were attributed to normal garage contents and vehicle tires."

The garage sustained extensive damage, as did the contents of the garage, which included a vehicle parked inside.
The Westport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
