GoFundMe Campaign Raises Thousands For Westport Family With Flooded Home

WESTPORT, CT — A GoFundMe campaign launched last week after the devastating Sept. 13 rainstorm has raised nearly $100,000 on behalf of a Westport family whose home was damaged by floodwaters.

The Greens Farms Road home of Lindsay Bernsohn and her sons, Charlie and Myles, was seriously damaged by the storm and the family also lost their car.

"This fundraiser will help Lindsay, Myles, and Charlie get through the aftermath of the flood by covering immediate needs and expenses as they figure out next steps," the GoFundMe effort reads. "Right now, they need the support of the community around them as they work to get back on their feet and try to regain a sense of normalcy."

As of Monday, just over a week after the rainstorm, the campaign has raised more than $96,000 toward a goal of $100,000.

Bernsohn told The Hour that she is overwhelmed by the support, and that the funds will help the family replace belongings and live in a rental home for nine months.

The Sept. 13 storm dumped 7 inches of rain on Westport and throughout the region, flooding homes, closing roads and damaging vehicles.

Town officials last week launched a resource webpage to help residents and businesses impacted by flooding.
