Housekeeper Accused Of Stealing Checks From Westport Families: Cops

The incidents occurred in July 2016.

WESTPORT, CT — A 48-year-old Norwalk woman was arrested on larceny and forgery charges this week in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars from two Westport families via forged checks, according to police.

Both incidents allegedly occurred in July of last year when Diana Parra worked as a housekeeper for both families.

In the first case, the victim "reported a bank check in the amount of $4,000.00 dollars was deposited to an unknown account that the victim did not write," according to Westport police.

"It was learned that the check was taken from the second to last position in the victim’s checkbook. Officers obtained video surveillance from Citibank where the check was deposited, and the suspect was positively identified as Diana Parra. Parra was an assistant housekeeper for the victim. Parra stole the check, then forged the victim’s signature and deposited it into her personal account."

In the second case, the victim "reported using the same cleaning company to clean their home and learned that a check was removed from their checkbook that was cashed at a Citibank. As in the previous case, Citibank was able to provide the Officer with the account information that the funds for the check were placed into. This information came back to a Diana Parra. Parra was also captured on the Citibank ATM machine surveillance footage."
