Input Sought On Search For Westport's Next Schools Superintendent

The public school district is seeking residents' opinions on who should be the next Superintendent of Schools.

WESTPORT, CT — The Board of Education is seeking public input on the search for Westport's next Superintendent of Schools, district officials announced.

To that end, the board will host two public hearings, on Nov. 25 and Dec. 10, with Dr. Joseph Erardi, the search consultant who is working with the Westport Board of Education on the search. The one-hour hearings are designed to gather insight from the community to assist the board's superintendent hiring committee.

Westport is in search of a new superintendent to replace Dr. Colleen Palmer, who retired over the summer.

A couple of months after the announcement of Palmer's retirement, David Abbey, a former Westport school administrator, was named as interim superintendent.

The district hopes to have a new superintendent in place before the start of the 2020-21 school year.
