Westport Superintendent's Separation Agreement Revealed: Report

She is set to retire this year and will receive her full salary until then, according to the separation agreement.

WESTPORT, CT — Superintendent Colleen Palmer is set to leave Westport schools this summer, and she will receive her full salary until then, Westport News is reporting. The Board of Education voted Monday night on her separation agreement, which was obtained by Westport News.

According to Westport News, the agreement says Palmer will be on paid leave for medical reasons until her employment ends on July 31. She will receive her annual base salary in accordance with the salary and payroll terms and schedules.

Assistant Superintendent Anthony Buono's title as Acting Superintendent was also solidified at Monday's meeting.

On March 14, Westport Public Schools announced Palmer would retire as Superintendent of Schools on Aug. 1, capping 35 years of public service to Connecticut students, including 15 years as a superintendent.

She has served as superintendent in Westport since 2016. At the time of the announcement, school officials said the Board of Education would work quickly to find a successor.

On March 25, the Westport Board of Education announced in an email sent to families that Palmer would be away from the district "until further notice" due to a family medical emergency.
