Main Street in Westport Reopened after Temporary Storm-Related Closure

Monday aftrenoon's storm knocked down a tree, according to police.

WESTPORT, CT — A portion of Main Street in Westport will be closed for part of Monday night, July 18, due to a downed tree on wires, according to Westport police:

"A large tree is currently suspended on wires in the area of Main Street south of Compo Road North causing traffic delays and necessitating the temporary closure of Main Street from its intersection with Cross Highway to Compo Road North. Northbound traffic on Main Street is currently being diverted up Cross Highway and southbound traffic is currently being diverted to Compo Road North and/or Clinton Avenue. Eversource has been notified and will be responding for repairs."

Police added that as of about 6 p.m. Monday, the exact duration it will take to complete the repairs was initially unknown, but the road eventually was reopened during the overnight hours.
